OCTOPUS Take Viqar Into Custody
The AP High Court had given permission to the OCTOPUS, to probe the role of Viqar and his associates in the attacks on policemen in Hyderabad.

OCTOPUS officials on Thursday took terror operative and founder of militant outfit Tehreek Ghalba-e-Islam (TGI) Viqaruddin Ahmed and 5 of his associates into their custody.
The OCTOPUS officials also took Viqaruddin Ahmed's associates Mohammed Haneef, Syed Amjad, Zakir, Riaz and Sayeed, into their custody, from Cherlapalli Jail.
Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh High Court had given permission to the OCTOPUS, the counter-terrorism wing of AP police, to probe the role of Viqar and his associates in the attacks on policemen in Hyderabad.
Viqar (29), who had been on the run since December 2008 after allegedly gunning down two policeman in the city , was arrested along with 5 of his associates last month by the police.
According to police, Viqar is also suspected of killing a police constable in Ahmedabad in 2007, during a shootout, when the alleged TGI members attempted to rob a bank.
