Suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, who is an accused in the Obulapuram Mining Company's (OMC) illegal mining case, was released on bail from the Women's Central Prison at Chanchalguda on Tuesday.
It may be mentioned here that Srilakshmi was granted interim bail by the special CBI court on Monday. However, since the delivery of the order was delayed, her release from the prison was postponed to Tuesday.
Granting her the interim bail from October 8 to January 20, 2013, Principal Special Judge U V Durga Prasad Rao directed her to appear in the court on January 21.
The judge said that interim bail was being given in consideration of Srilakshmi's health condition.
Srilakshmi was also asked to deposit her passport in the court, and to not leave Hyderabad. She also furnished two bonds of Rs. 15,000 each for her release.
Srilakshmi was arrested on November 28 last year, for allegedly assisting mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy in getting mining contracts through illegal means for at least 68 acres in Anthagangamma Konda in Anantapur district.
She also allegedly drafted the fine print in such a way as to leave loopholes that helped Gali Janardhan Reddy's company transport mined iron ore out of Andhra Pradesh. (INN)
