Obulapuram Mining Case: PT Warrant Against Gali's PA Granted
AP High Court overrules the CBI Court's refusal to grant a Prisoner Transit warrant against Mehfuz Ali Khan, the personal assistant of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday granted a Prisoner Transit warrant against Mehfuz Ali Khan, the personal assistant of former Karnataka minister - and the main accused in the illegal mining case of Obulapuram Mining Corporation - Gali Janardhan Reddy.
It is worth mentioning that last week, the CBI Court had rejected the PT warrant against Khan. However, the CBI approached the High Court against the CBI Court's ruling, and secured the PT warrant. The CBI had sought the custody of Khan for further probe into the alleged illegal iron ore mining by Janardhan Reddy's OMC.
Khan, who was absconding after the arrest of Janardhan Reddy, surrendered before a court in Bengaluru on March 2, and is presently lodged in a prison there. He has been arrested under a similar illegal mining case being probed by the CBI there.
The CBI, on March 23, filed a petition seeking PT warrant against Ali Khan stating that he has exclusive knowledge of the illegal mining activities of the OMC. (INN)
