10 students suffered injuries when a college bus in which they were travelling went out of control and plunged into a canal, near Voleru in Repalle taluk in Guntur district on Sunday morning.
According to police, the brakes of the bus had failed, and the driver lost control over the vehicle.
The bus, belonging to NVL Kranthi Junior College in Avanigadda in Krishna district, was carrying about 60 students at the time of the mishap.
Police say that the driver had lost control of the bus when the brakes failed, and that tried to bring it to a halt but the vehicle veered off into a canal beside the road.
The students on board the bus were heading towards Mangalagiri in Guntur district on a pilgrimage. The injured students have been shifted to Avanigadda hospital in Krishna district. Their condition is stated to be out of danger.
