Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao seems to be ignoring the Opposition's criticism and continuing his thanksgiving to various gods by making trips to popular temples to fulfill his promises of presenting gold ornaments to the deities if Telangana was created.
On the occasion of Maha Sivaratri on Friday, KCR visited Kuravi village under Mahabubabad district and offered a gold moustache to Lord Veerabhadra Swamy. Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, MP Seetharam Naik, MLA Redya Naik and district TRS leaders were present.
The ornament weighing 20.28 gm cost the exchequer Rs 60,000.
This comes close on the heels of the gold ornaments worth Rs 5.5 crores he gave Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on Friday.
The Chief Minister had also presented a 11.7 kg gold crown worth over Rs. 3 crores to goddess Bhadrakali at Warangal during the Dassera celerations in October last year. And earlier in December 2015, he had performed an "Ayutha Chandi Maha Yagnam" in the sprawling grounds of his farmhouse on the outskirts of the city.
What had shocked many was that he had spent crores of rupees for the yagnam at a time when the State was reeling under a severe drought.
All the Opposition parties have lashed out at the Chief Minister for his extravagant offerings that they claim are denting the exchequer, for fulfilling his personal vows.
