Some Hindu religious groups today held a protest outside the Telangana Endowments Department office at Boggulakunta.
The demonstrators demanded a thorough investigation into corruption allegations against the Alampur Jogulamba temple chief priest Anand Sharma and Executive Officer Purendar.
The protesters called for the immediate suspension of Sharma, citing pending criminal cases against him.
They expressed concern that despite serious allegations against him over the past three months, the officials from the Endowments Department had failed to take action, appearing to ignore the situation.
A priest from Kothakota Ashram, Sivananda Swami, said that it was important to safeguard the integrity of the temple, recognised as one of the Sakthi Peethas, and that the government needed to investigate the disappearance of the temple's ornaments and the alleged corruption of the priest to uncover the truth.
Following the protest, the demonstrators met Endowments Minister Konda Surekha at her residence to brief her on the issue. After a 30-minute discussion with Swami and other priests, the minister directed the Endowment Commissioner to initiate an inquiry and submit a report on the matter.
