Secunderabad MLA Jayasudha Kapoor on Saturday denied that she was contemplating leaving the Congress and aligning herself with the yet-to-be-announced party of Kadapa leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan after conveying her New Year greetings to Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas, Jayasudha said that she has no plans to leave the party. She also emphasized that she is a member of the Congress party and will continue to be one.
Speculation that she would join Jagan's political party came to the fore after she had attended the 48-hour mass hunger strike organized by him on the banks of river Krishna in Vijayawada, on December 21.
Jayasudha said that she had complete faith in God to guide her in the future.
In reply to reporters' queries, the actress-turned-politician said that her meeting the PCC chief is proof that she has no plans to quit the Congress party and join Jagan's political outfit. When asked the reason behind her participation in Jagan's 'Laksha Deeksha', she said that it was because the program was in support of the farmers.
She added that though she owes her loyalties to former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, she had committed no wrong since YSR is an integral part of the Congress.
Jayasudha's quashing the rumours of her departure comes in the wake of the implementation of the strategy adopted by chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and D Srinivas to prevent Congress leaders from deserting the party.
