Ponnuru court, on Monday, issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Nellore traffic sub-inspector Ranganath Goud over the allegations made by Razia Sultana.
The court issued the warrant after Ranganath Goud failed to present himself before the court. According to the court, Ranganath has been failing to appear before it since the past 8 weeks.
The court ordered that the sub-inspector be arrested and produced before it by October 12th.
Ranganath Goud had earlier been suspended and then reinstated after a woman, Razia Sultana, had alleged that he had entered into a physical relationship with her after promising to marry her.
Sultana had also undertaken a fast-unto-death, but called it off after being assured by the authorities that justice would be done to her.
Police had registered a case against the sub-inspector under Sections 376 (Sexual Assault), 417 (Cheating) and 506 of IPC (Criminal Intimidation).
