Government whip A Anil on Wednesday alleged that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is moving a "No Confidence Motion" against Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar, to indirectly stop the Telangana Bill.
Speaking to media persons here, Anil alleged that the CM, "through his close associates", is trying to make the position of the Speaker controversial by moving a "No Confidence Motion" against him.
He said the that move is aimed at preventing a debate and also the passing of the Telangana Bill on the floor of the House.
Describing Nadendla Manohar as a loyal Congress member, he said that the CM should not create new controversies to "vent out the frustration of being ignored by the Congress High Command" over the statehood issue.
Anil also said that only the President and the Parliament have the powers to constitute a new state, and that therefore, any efforts to stop the Bill in the Assembly would be of no use to the Chief Minister. (INN)
