GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain made it clear that there would be no hike in property taxes as long as Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen is in power in the GHMC.
GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain made it clear that there would be no hike in property taxes as long as Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen is in power in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
The Mayor's announcement came as a result of a confusion over a demand raised by BJP floor leader Bangari Prakash. Participating in the debate during the GHMC's meeting here on Tuesday, the BJP leader pointed out that a newspaper has reported that the Mayor's house was not assessed properly. Asking the Mayor to take stern action against the concerned officials to set an example, he demanded that all properties be properly assessed.
However, former Deputy Mayor Jaffer Hussain Meraj intervened on the issue and claimed that the BJP leader was demanding an increase in the property tax. In reaction, the Mayor announced that there would be no hike in property tax till MIM retains power in the GHMC. (INN)
