The Popular Front of India (PFI) office in Hyderabad was seized and sealed on Thursday morning by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The development comes as part of the nationwide action against PFI members being conducted by the NIA and the ED.
NIA personnel descended upon the PFI office in the Chandrayanagutta locality in the Old City and conducted searches of the premises. Computer hard disks, pen drives and documents were reportedly seized during the operations. The office was later sealed by the NIA officials.
The NIA also conducted raids in other parts of the city such as L B Nagar and Autonagar.
Raids were also conducted in Karimnagar city.
Apart from making enquiries about past members of the PFI, the NIA is also on the lookout for PFI members who are on the run.
The raids in Hyderabad were part of a nation-wide operation. The NIA and the Enforcement Directorate conducted joint raids at PFI offices across ten States of the country today, as also at the homes of PFI members in these States.
The operations by the NIA in Telangana come just four days after it had
conducted search operations in the State. The agency had only on Sep 18 carried out simultaneous searches at 40 locations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as part of its probe to track and freeze terror funds, and four PFI suspects were detained by it.
