Labour minister Danam Nagender on Wednesday announced that a new labour board would be constituted soon, which would draft a new policy for the welfare of unorganised sectors.
The announcment came after CPI (M) MLA G Mallesh disrupted the official celebrations of May Day at Ravindra Bharathi.
Mallesh condemned the government for not announcing the regularisation of temporary workers in Angawadi, RTC and other sectors.
Intervening, Danam said that issues like that of minimum wages, ESI, PF and other benefits for workers in the unorganised sectors would be covered under the new policy to be drafted by the new board.
Earlier, Nagender listed out the various welfare measures being implemented by the state government for the labourers.
The minister also distributed awards among labourer and their leaders.
A book titled "Karmika Kiranalu", and a CD, "Sammay Kiranulu", were also released on the occasion. (INN)
