The Telangana government today suspended Chevella CI Upendra and SI Shekar for allegedly harassing the victims of slain gangster Mohammed Nayeemuddin when they had come to lodge a complaint against him.
It may be recalled that Special Investigation Team head Nagi Reddy, who was investigating Nayeemuddin's case, said that the persons who had links with Nayeem could lodge a complaint at their respective police stations, and that the complaint would then be transferred to the SIT.
Many people have lodged complaints against the gangster at several police stations including the Chevella PS. But in Chevella, the CI and SI allegedly harassed the plaintiffs. Upon knowing this, the government suspended them immediately.
