The Election Commission today released the schedule for the Nandyal Assembly constituency by-election, and the related notification will be issued soon.
According to the information received, polling will be conducted on August 23, and counting will take place on August 28. Nominations will be accepted between August 5 and 7, and the last date for withdrawals will be August 9.
The by-election was necessitated by the death of sitting MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy. The Opposition YSR Congress is fielding Shilpa Mohan Reddy in the contest, while the ruling Telugu Desam Party is roping in Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy.
The Model Code of Conduct will come into force with immediate effect in the district, and will be applicable to all candidates and political parties, and the state government.
