Telugu Desam star campaigner Nandamuri Balakrishna, on Thursday, stated that he was ready to contest the by-elections, if party directs him to do so.
Talking to media persons after hoisting the tri-colour at Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital, Balakrishna said that he would abide by the party's decision in this regard.
"If the party directs me to contest the by-elections, I will oblige, and support the party in all aspects," he stated.
Balakrishna's statement assumes importance as Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu had announced on Wednesday that Balakrishna would not contest in the by-elections, and that he would only enter electoral politics during the 2014 general elections.
This time, Balakrishna completely avoided making any comments on ertstwhile Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi's comments on the former's political plans.
Chiranjeevi had described Balakrishna as a "child in politics". Later, Balakrishna accused Chiranjeevi of selling his party for political positions.
Balakrishna also challenged Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal to resign from his post and win the next elections to prove his strength.
Responding to NTR Telugu Desam party president Lakshmi Parvathi's statement that Balakrishna would lose deposits if he contests on a TDP ticket, he said that nobody would take her comments seriously.
Balakrishna also announced that he would soon launch his tour in the Telangana region.
Later, he inaugurated a blood donation camp at Motinagar. (INN)
