TDP president and A P Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today held a meeting with the leaders of the Party's Telangana unit on the issue of the by-election for the Warangal Lok Sabha constituency.
Telangana TDP leaders including Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Revanth Reddy went to Vijayawada and met Naidu, and reportedly expressed their inclination to contest the election.
They informed him that if the Party candidate contested the election, it would help strengthen the Party in the State.
However, the TDP president convinced them that the seat had been allotted to the BJP earlier and should therefore be contested by the BJP this time, too. He asked them to work hard for the victory of the BJP-TDP combine candidate.
The BJP is yet to announce name of the Party's candidate for the by-election.
The meeting also reportedly discussed Party affairs, including the issue of Rajya Sabha member Gundu Sudharani's defection to the TDP, and reported arguments between Errabelli and Revanth Reddy.
Rao and Reddy were reportedly closeted with the Party president separately.
