As a humanitarian gesture, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to provide full succour to the families of the construction labourers from the state who were caught in the tragic building collapse incident in Chennai last Saturday.
Besides granting an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the family of each of the deceased, and Rs 50,000 to each of the injured along with full medical expenses reimbursement, Naidu has also asked officials to provide Rs. 25,000 as relief to the family of each of the injured persons to meet wage loss and miscellaneous expenses.
He also instructed officials to provide free accommodation, food and local transport to all the family members of the affected during their stay at Chennai in connection with the search and rescue operations for their near and dear ones still caught in the debris or admitted in hospitals.
The government will also provide free transport for their return journey to their native places in AP, and other related expenses.
The Chief Minister directed officials to take up relief and rehabilitation measures on a war footing, and ensure that the construction labourers from AP who went through the harrowing experience in Chennai are provided care and support with a human touch. (INN)
