Telangana Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Saturday declared that he would conduct Telangana Nagaras in all the 10 Telangana districts, from 21st May onwards.
He informed the media that the Nagaras would be conducted sans flags of any particular political party. If at all any flag is hoisted at the event, it would be that of Telangana on a white cloth, he said. Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC0, and the activist organisations of students and employees were invited to attend the Nagaras.
Nagam explained that he intends to rouse the Telangana people into revolting against the delay in the introduction of the Telangana Bill in the Parliament. The TDP leader promised to fight ceaselessly till the government bows down to their 5-decade-old demand for a separate Telangana.
He stated that he would conduct events other than public gatherings, if the meetings proved insufficient to move the masses and pressurise the government. He also announced that Telangana leaders would resign from their posts if the Telangana Bill is not introduced in the near future.
Nagam then went on to condemn the attitude of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader K Chandrasekhar Rao, who had stated that he wanted the TRS to be the only political party in Telangana. Nagam questioned the rationale behind such a statement. He also asked TJAC Convener Kodandaram if a leader belonging to a different party did not have the right to fight for the cause of Telangana.
With Nagam making statements that suggest that he truly cares more about the Telangana statehood than his position in the TDP, KCR may find that he must change tactics and convince the public that he too cares about Telangana, and not just his improved political prospects in the event of the formation of Telangana.
