Muslims from across Telangana observed fasting on the first day of the holy month of Ramzan by confining themselves to their homes due to the ongoing lockdown.
They also offered their mandatory five prayers at their homes for the same reason - the optional Taraveeh prayer which is offered every day at the mosques during the Ramzan month was also offered at homes by the Muslims.
Mosques across the state including the grand and historic Mecca Masjid wore a deserted look, surreal for this time of the year.
The superintendent of Mecca Masjid Mohammad Abdul Qadar Siddique urged the Muslims to offer perform their sehri, iftaar and prayers at their homes till the lockdown was lifted in the state. He also urged them to hold the Ramzan feasts at their homes.
Meanwhile, the authorities of electricity department have made elaborate arrangements to ensure round-the-clock supply of electricity throughout the holy month.
