Telangana Congress MPs on Wednesday met Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas and discussed the strategy to be adopted after the submission of the Justice Srikrishna Commission's report on the situation in the state.
The discussions between the MPs and the PCC chief came after the MPs called on Srinivas at his residence to thank him for his role in getting the police cases against students and agitators who took part in the separate statehood agitation lifted.
The MPs, in their meeting, discussed the situation that would likely unfold after the submission of the Srikrishna Commission's report, and the issue of how to tackle the situation in the Telangana region if the report is seen to be against bifurcation.
Talking to reporters later, MP Ponnam Prabhakar said that the MPs had thanked the PCC chief for making efforts to lift police cases against students.
He hoped that Congress president Sonia Gandhi would take a favourable decision on the formation of a Telangana state and introduce a bill in Parliament after the submission of the Srikrishna Panel's report.
Ponnam also rubbished statements that appeared in a section of media that a second States Reorganization Commission would be appointed to look into the statehood issue.
MP Gutta Sukender Reddy said no one can restrain the formation of a Telangana state, and added that it would be formed under the Congress rule itself.
MP Vivek took serious objection to the Telugu Desam Party for terming the MPs'
fast as 'political drama', and demanded that the TDP withdraw the remarks.
