Mohammad Ali Shabbir Takes Oath As MLC
Talking to reporters later, Shabbir Ali thanked the Congress leadership for nominating him to the post, and assured that he would continue to raise issues related to minorities.
Former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir on Monday took oath as a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council.
Council chairman Dr A Chakrapani administered the oath in the presence of PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana, Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, and other senior leaders.
Talking to reporters later, Shabbir Ali thanked the Congress leadership for nominating him to the post. Assuring that he would continue to raise issues related to minorities and other downtrodden people, Shabbir Ali made an indirect attack on the Majlis leadership. Without mentioning any name, he ridiculed MIM leaders who speak in the English language in the Assembly.
Shabbir Ali said that he took the oath in Urdu language, his mother tongue, and the state's second official language. He said that leaders themselves should speak the language in all forums besides teaching the language to their children.
The former minister, who had been on an Umrah pilgrimage to the Holy Mecca and Madina, had reached the city on Monday morning, and directly went to the Legislative Council to take oath, from the Shamshabad Airport. (INN)
