Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the country's largest floating solar PV project, of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), at Ramagundam on Saturday.
Modi will dedicate the 100 MW project to the nation through the virtual mode from New Delhi at 12 noon, according to officials.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) commissioned the plant, and the project was declared commercially operational from July 1.
Constructed at a cost of Rs. 423 crore through the BHEL as an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract, the project is spread over 500 acres of the NTPC-Ramagundam reservoir.
The plant has been installed across the natural raw water reservoir, saving valuable land resources, and also potentially conserving water by reducing evaporation.
The largest in the segment in the country, the project also boasts advanced technology as well as environment-friendly features.
The project is divided into 40 blocks with each having a capacity of 2.5 MW. Each block consists of one floating platform and an array of 11,200 solar modules.
