The TRS leadership today lashed out at the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre for showing "step-motherly" attitude towards Telangana.
The Centre was denying funds to Telangana but giving funds to other BJP-ruled states in the country, TRS working president K T Rama Rao alleged.
Talking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan along with other leaders, KTR accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of discriminating against Telangana.
For example, though the Centre was funding 95% of the Polavaram national project in Andhra Pradesh, it had failed to accord national status to the Kaleshwaram project in Telangana, KTR said. Likewise, even though Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya got appreciation by all other states and even from the Centre, and Mission Bhagiratha got two national awards and the Scotch award, Union Minister of State Arjun Meghwal said in Parliament that the schemes would not be receiving any funds from the Centre. The Modi government also failed to comply with the Niti Ayog recommendation to give Rs 24,000 crores to Telangana, KTR said.
This was all just the mean mentality of the NDA government at play, he claimed. The Centre was insulting the Telangana by not extending support for its (Telangana's) people-oriented schemes. If the Centre continued like this, the BJP which lost 118 Assembly seats in the state would also lose the 17 MP seats in it, KTR warned.
The TRS MPs would continue to fight relentlessly for the state's issues, he added.
