Model Schools For Khammam
The government has announced that it would set up model schools at a cost of Rs. 3 crore, in the backward Khammam district.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday stated that his government would establish model schools in 33 out of 46 mandals in Khammam district.
Speaking at in the Racha Banda program held at Ramakrishnapuram in Chintakani mandal, the CM stated that the government would set up model schools at a cost of Rs. 3 crore, to improve educational facilities in the backward Khammam district.
He said that the government is spending Rs. 5,600 crore on scholarships of 27 lakh students in the state.
Listing out the the government's achievements, he said that so far, 52 lakh houses have been constructed for the poor since 2004. He said the government would also finish building the rest of the 15 lakh houses, which are at various stages of construction across the state.
Stating that of the Rs. 22,000 crore loans given by the nationalized banks across the country, women's self help groups from AP received the lion's share of Rs. 10,000 crore under the Pavala Vaddi scheme.
He praised SHGs for being punctual in the repayment of loans. He also said that the government is planning to sanction loans to the tune of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 to SHG members, in a scheme in which they will have to just send an SMS for the loan.
The CM said that the government would construct buildings in 1,048 mandal headquarters in the state at a cost of Rs. 25 lakhs, under the Stree Shakthi Scheme.
He also announced that the government would issue Aadhar cards to every citizen in the state by March 2012.
Earlier, the CM launched the Indira Jala Prabha program at Kondaigudem village in Chandrugonda mandal, for the first time in the Telangana region. He said that the program would benefit 31,000 SC/ST farmers in the agency region of Bhadrachalam mandal.
He added that the Jala Prabha program is aimed at bringing under irrigation 10 lakh acres, with an estimated cost of Rs. 1,600 crore. (INN)
