The Telangana government today announced that TRS leader and MLC V Bhoopal Reddy had been appointed as the pro-tem chairman of the state's Legislative Council.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao took the decision to appoint the MLC to the post for the time being as the tenures of the incumbent Chairman and Deputy Chairman have come to an end.
As per the decision of the CM, Reddy will remain in office as the pro-tem Chairman until a permanent Chairman is appointed to the post.
He will be in office from June 4 and is expected to continue until further orders are issued.
On the recommendation of the CM, Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan approved the appointment and issued related orders.
In GO 23, the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council Secretary Dr V Narasimha Charyulu issued the related orders. The details of the same will later be published in a gazette.
As Chairman, Reddy will be in charge of administering the oaths of office to the members who are elected to the upper house.
The hasty pro-tem appointment was made as Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy and Deputy Chairman Neti Vidyasagar both retired from their respective posts today.
