Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao today said that the TRS government's Mission Bhagiratha program was successfully supplying drinking water to 24,543 villages in the state.
Responding to the queries of some MLAs during the Question Hour of today's Budget session, the minister stated, "Though waters from the Mission Bhagiratha program are already benefitting 24,543 villages, we have further expanded the scheme to cover the Bhadradri Kothagudem district as well. In a major achievement, we have been able to provide water to some tribal villages populated by the tribals who had come to Telangana from Chattisgarh as well. A total of 74 such villages are currently receiving potable water through the massive program. We hope that the remaining expansion works, delayed due to the ongoing works on some national highways, will also soon be completed. This will enable more people benefit from the program."
Rao then expressed his appreciation for Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for helming such an important and beneficial project.
He often praises the TRS' flagship Mission Bhagiratha scheme. Some days ago, he had revealed that it was this particular scheme, aimed at "providing safe drinking water to every household in the state", that had
initially attracted him to the pink party.
