Missing BLF Nominee - HC Issues Habeas Corpus
Foul play suspected in the disappearance of the Bahujan Left Front (BLF) candidate for the Goshamahal Assembly constituency, Chandramukhi.
Hyderabad | 28th November 2018
The Bahujan Left Front (BLF) candidate for the Goshamahal Assembly constituency for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections, Chandramukhi, a transgender, was reported missing since yesterday.
Chandramukhi's mother, who had lodged a complaint with the police yesterday itself, filed a habeas corpus petition in the Hyderabad High Court today, praying that Chandramukhi be presented in the court.
The High Court, after hearing the mother's plea, issued orders to the police to produce Chandramukhi in the court tomorrow at 10:15 am.
For the uninitiated, Chandramukhi is the only transgender to enter the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections fray. She is contesting against the BJP nominee T Raja Singh, the TRS candidate Prem Singh Rathore, and Congress candidate and former minister Mukesh Goud for the Goshamahal Assembly seat.
BLF supporters alleged that Chandramukhi was abducted by her political rivals.
