Following reports that senior Congress leader T Jeevan Reddy intended to resign from the party, ministers Sridhar Babu and Adluri Lakshman Kumar today held discussions with him.
Acting on directives from TPCC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, the ministers, accompanied by Choppadandi MLA Medipally Satyam and other party members, visited Jeevan Reddy's residence in Jagtial.
The meeting, which lasted over an hour, focused on persuading Reddy to reconsider his decision to leave the Congress, a party he has been associated with for the past 40 years.
They reportedly emphasised the continued need for his contributions and expertise in the future.
The ministers also reportedly addressed local political challenges and other matters, and assured him of a prominent role within the party through consultations with the high command.
In response, Reddy said that his decision remained unchanged, and indicated that he would provide comprehensive details on Sunday.
