Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader K Jana Reddy said on Thursday that there was no need to be surprised that the MIM was praising the ruling TRS today despite being a staunch Congress ally for over a decade, since the party had no loyalties and hitched its wagon to whichever party was in power in the state.
One needed to be surprised only if it did not praise the ruling party, Reddy quipped.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Reddy said that the Congress' target was the TRS, not the MIM. The TRS government had allocated 8.5% of the budget to the welfare of the minorities whereas the Congress had allocated only 8%. A mere 0.5% extra was not a big deal, he said.
Reddy also said that there was no chance of a reorganisation of constituencies, and that the delimitation issue was similar to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's assurance of 12% reservation for Muslims. There was an Act according to which the Assembly seats could not be increased till 2026, he said. The AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, allowed for seats to be increased only as per the Act, Reddy said.
