A BJP worker attempted suicide at the party's headquarters at Nampally during the protest against leadership's decision to tie up with the TDP.
The worker, who was later identified as Bhagwat Rajesh, tried to set himself ablaze in front of the BJP office by pouring kerosene. However, other party workers immediately rushed to his rescue and prevented him from setting himself on fire.
He was among nearly 500 workers who staged a strong protest against the tie-up with the TDP. They hailed from L B Nagar, Huzurabad, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Zaheerabad and other areas.
Violent protests were also reported from other offices of the BJP in the Telangana region. Party workers staged violent protests in BJP's Ranga Reddy district office and damaged office furniture. (INN)
