"Thousands of residents of these areas, which have over 3,000 houses, have thus been subjected to an undeclared curfew being enforced by the police.", claims MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi.

The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen on Monday sought the intervention of the State Human Rights Commission over the "unofficial enforcement of curfew" in Sabzi Mandi and adjoining areas of the city.
MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi submitted a petition to the SHRC stating that following some incidents of communal violence on the intervening night of October 28 and 29, the police imposed nakabandi in the affected areas, particularly Sabzimandi, Rasool-e-Gulshan Colony, Panch Bhai Alawa, Jhanda Gali and Toli Masjid. He alleged that the police have warned the people in these areas not to come out of their houses. The entry of anyone into these areas was stopped by posting police pickets,” he alleged.
"Thousands of residents of these areas which have over 3,000 houses have thus been subjected to undeclared curfew being enforced by the police. The residents are denied the opportunity to get their essential provisions. Those in need of medical attention are not being allowed to come out of their houses. In the name of section 144, the police are enforcing virtual curfew, which has no sanctity," Owaisi alleged.
Owaisi requested the commission to order an enquiry into the "unofficial curfew" imposed by the police and the "reign of terror" let loose by them against the residents of localities inhabitated by a minority community in Sabzi Mandi and adjoining areas.
The MIM president also alleged that the police was further harassing the victims of communal violence. "About a dozen minority youth were arrested and remanded to judicial custody and the police started raiding the houses of minority persons in search of another 25 to 30 youth who are shown as absconding," he alleged in his petition.
