The Hyderabad police on Wednesday arrested a person who reportedly made a hoax call to the Telangana DGP's office on November 28 claiming that a bomb had been planted at the Falaknuma Palace.
The call was made on a day when the entire state machinery was already on its toes since Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Advisor to and daughter of US president Donald Trump Ivanka Trump, were in the city for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017.
According to the police, the call was made to 108-EMRI on Tuesday at 8:43 pm. Speaking in an incoherent manner, the person on the other side claimed that there was a bomb in the Falaknuma Palace.
The EMRI, in turn, informed the same to the Control Rooms of all the wings concerned. The police immediately swung into action and found that the call had originated from Moula Ali from the address of a 60-year-old man named Bontha Yellaiah.
The man wasn't home but the police traced him in a few hours, and found him to be mentally unfit. He was nevertheless taken into custody.
The cops found out that the caller had been recently sent to the Institute Of Mental Health in Erragada by the Malkajgiri police, and had undergone treatment there for some days since October 28.
