Medaram Jatara To Be Conducted On Kumbh Mela Lines
Telangana Chief Secretary S P Singh directed that like the Kumbh Mela, the Sammakka-Saralamma jathara, too, be conducted to international standards.

Telangana Chief Secretary S P Singh today directed the officials concerned with the Medaram jathara to make the best possible arrangements and secure national and international level publicity for the festival scheduled to be held from January 31 to February 3.
The Chief Secretary was holding a high-level review meeting with officials on the tribal festival that is expected to be attended by around one crore people from various states.
Similar to the Kumbh Mela, the biennial jathara of deities Sammakka and Saralamma, too, should be conducted on par with international standards and with the best of facilities in place, he said.
He also directed the officials to publicize the event on an international scale, take up publicity campaigns on international channels, blogs and social media, and prepare plans to attract foreign tourists to the festival. He also asked the tourism wing to release a brochure to mark the event.
With regard to the official invitees for the event, Singh directed that tribal ministers, culture ministers, MPs, MLAs and other officials be invited for the festival. He asked the culture wing to set up a special cell to inspect the arrangements being made and to invite the guests as per protocol.
Singh added that special steps should be taken for sanitation facilities at the festival by ensuring adequate staff, modern toilets etc. He also asked officials to press helicopter services for easy transport to the festival and ensure traffic regulation with parking facilities.
Information Commissioner Arvind Kumar, Tourism and Culture Secretary B Venkatesham, Endowment Commissioner Shiva Shankar and Tribal Commissioner Christina Z Chongtu were among the officials who attended the meeting. Former Warangal Collector Karuna Vakati was appointed the monitoring official for the event.
