TRS leaders expressed confidence of retaining the Medak Lok Sabha in the by-elections to be held on September 13.
Addressing the TRS extended meeting at Gajwel on Sunday, TRS Secretary General and Rajya Sabha MP K Keshav Rao asked the party cadre to ensure that TRS nominee Kotha Prabhakar Reddy won the Medak by-polls with a thumping majority.
He expressed confidence that the Congress and BJP candidates would not even secure their deposits.
Keshav Rao claimed that both the Congress and the BJP had lost their significance in Telangana, and that it would be proved after the Medak by-polls.
He criticised the BJP for fielding T Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy as its candidate while ignoring the fact that he opposed the formation of Telangana.
Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said that the people of Medak would teach a fitting lesson to the Congress and the BJP in the by-polls.
He said that both the parties had adopted a dual stand on statehood for Telangana.
While Jagga Reddy openly opposed AP's bifurcation, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy refused to get funds for the Medak district despite being a minister, he said. (INN)
