A case has been filed against a Lankipalli Chanukya, who works in Elite Infra India as a project manager, for brutally abusing and threatening to murder his neighbours on September 27, 2020.
This reportedly happened in the complex in Anand Nagar Colony, Khairatabad, Hyderabad, where Mr. LG Chanukya lives, and which has predominantly senior citizens living.
Apparently the neighbours had a few days before that complained to the owner of the apartment, an S V Ramana Murthy (Sombhotla Venkata Ramana Murthy, a retired Assistant General Manager (AGM) in SBH and who lives in the neighbouring Matrukrupa Apartments), about water leakages in Mr. Chanukya's apartment for several weeks, resulting in huge costs for the complex.
It is not known what Mr. Ramana Murthy Sombhotla told his tenant Mr. Chanukya, but just a few days after that Mr. Chanukya is said to have accosted his neighbours late in the night, and repeatedly threatened to murder them in an extraordinarily abusive, loud and public attack on them that lasted about a hour, videos and audio clippings of which are publicly available.
Mr. Lankipalli Chanukya's attack was captured on video.
Things later apparently got worse, with Mr. Chanukya reportedly repeatedly threatening murder. His wife, an Archana, who reportedly works in Hamstech, is also seen in the video appearing to come to his aid.
While nobody in the complex interacted with Mr. Chanukya when he was engaging in the attack, many residents of the complex later complained to the Panjagutta police, who registered a criminal case against Mr. LG Chanukya under multiple IPC sections (FIR No. 708/2020, CC No. 2305/2021).
Meanwhile, the owner Mr. Ramana Murthy Sombhotla however apparently refused multiple written requests by the entire community to take action against his tenant, despite being confronted with all the recorded evidence, and despite a signature petition by almost all residents of the complex asking him to evict Mr. LG Chanukya.
Residents say that in the video Mr. Chanukya is seen claiming
Mr. Ramana Sombhotla's support for the attack. Mr. Sombhotla also reportedly did not denounce the actions of Mr. Chanukya at any stage, and instead supported him in written and repeatedly criticized the complex residents.
