The Cyber Crime Police of Central Crime Station (Detective Department) arrested a person who allegedly spoiled the lives of eight girls.
According to police, the accused, 28-year-old Motaparthy Vamshi Krishna of Borabanda, also a native of West Godavari district, registered on matrimonial sites and cheated girls with the promise of marriage.
Vamshi Krishna would tell the victims that his father resides in London, and that he would marry after his return to India. He would show them pictures of the residence of Vijayawada MLA Vallabhaneni Vamshi at Jubilee Hills, claiming it was his house. He would even impress the girls and their families by visiting them in high-end vehicles like Innova, Scorpio or Toyota.
He also had a photo with Chandrababu Naidu, which he would use to claim that he held an important position in the Telugu Desam Party.
He would exploit girls' families by taking money from them on various pretexts. Once they started doubting him, he would throw away the SIM cards and disappear, leaving no traces.
The police said that he was arrested in a case lodged by the mother of one of the victims, whose family he had cheated of Rs. 6.10 lakh.
Motaparthy was earlier arrested in the 2010 by the S R Nagar police, in a case in which he had extricated money from brothels by claiming he was from the media.
The case was cracked by a team comprising Inspector Majid Ali Khan, Sub-Inspector Venu Gopal, and constables Mahesh, Sateesh, Sekhar and Raghu. (INN)
