Malkajgiri MP Nalla Malla Reddy Joins TRS From TDP
A staunch follower of TDP boss and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, he apparently needed to quit the TDP under duress and go with the TRS.
Telangana Telugu Desam Party leader and the Malkajgiri MP Nalla Malla Reddy officially defected to the TRS today.
Reddy joined the TRS in the presence of its supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at the latter's camp office. KCR invited Reddy with the TRS' trademark "pink" shawl into the Party, even as other top leaders of the Party including Etela Rajender and Mahender Reddy congratulated him.
It is believed that the Chief Minister offered all possible help to Reddy to develop his constituency.
Reddy later announced that the TRS flagship programs like double-bedroom houses for the poor, Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha, and other welfare schemes attracted him very much to the Party. "I will work under the leadership of the Chief Minister to make the State a golden Telangana," he vowed.
It is known to all that Malla Reddy had said several times said that he would not quit his parent party which gave him his political life. However, he owns a few engineering colleges and a medical college in the twin cities and the Ranga Reddy district, and had to reportedly take a decision to defect to protect his business interests. A staunch follower of TDP boss and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, he apparently needed to quit the TDP under duress and go with the TRS.
Despite his defection, Malla Reddy stated both the Telugu Chief Ministers KCR and Chandrababu Naidu had great vision for their States, and that he was indebted to Chandrababu Naidu for giving him his political career.
