Make PM Go Public With Muslim Quota Support: Congress To KCR
If the PM had really given an assurance to KCR in private, then he should not have any hesitation in making a public announcement for the same, the Telangana Congress said.
Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee (GHCC) Minorities department chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Tuesday demanded that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao get Prime Minister Narender Modi to publicly announce his support for the 12% Muslim quota during the latter's visit to Hyderabad on November 28.
Sohail stated that the Chief Minister had earlier told the Assembly that Modi was in favour of giving 12% reservation for Muslims.
"If the Prime Minister has really given an assurance to KCR in private, then he (the PM) should not have any hesitation in making a public announcement for the same," Sohail said.
The GHCC chairman also urged the CM to announce a clear-cut road map for the implementation of the 12% reservation for Muslims.
"The Muslim community voted for your party in 2014 expecting that the increased reservations would make their lives better. However, your government deprived them of the additional 8% share in jobs, and of seats in government institutions during the last three-and-half years," he said.
