Sleuths from the City Crime Station (CCS) on Thursday questioned film producer C Kalyan about his alleged links with slain factionist Maddelacheruvu Suri, and the main accused in his murder, Bhanu Kiran.
According to police sources, the CCS sleuths conducted the interrogation for over one and a half hours based on the information that the producer reportedly had links with both the factionist leader and his alleged assailant, on telephone.
Bhanu Kiran is currently absconding, and is the prime accused in the murder of factionist Suri, who was shot dead in the city recently. Suri was himself the prime accused in the murder of Telugu Desam Party MLA Paritala Ravi.
C Kalyan has produced the film
Param Veera Chakra which was released on Wednesday.
Talking to media persons after emerging out of the CCS, Kalyan denied that he had any personal link with the factionist leader and his follower, though he admitted meeting them during the filming of the movie
Raktha Charitra.
He said that the purpose of the meetings was to identify the locales in Anantapur district. Incidentally, Kalyan also produced that film which was based on the factionist violence in the region.
Kalyan also said that he would gladly offer all assistance to the police at any time. He revealed that he had replied to whatever questions the police had sought answers to from him.
Kalyan has also produced the film
Khaleja starring Mahesh Babu, and
Komaram Puli starring Pavan Kalyan.
This is not the first time the film producer has been questioned by the police. Earlier, the police had interrogated the producer in connection with land-grabbing and dispute settlement issues.
