The Congress candidate, M S Prabhakar, has been declared elected as a Member of Legislative Council from the lone Hyderabad Local Authorities Constituency.
Prabhakar was elected unopposed, as no other party fielded candidate against him. He is the sitting MLC, and his three-year term was due to expire on 1 May. However, he was renominated for the post by the Congress party.
GHMC Special Commissioner and Returning Officer S Naveen Mittal on Thursday handed over the certificate of election to Prabhakar. Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, former mayor Banda Kartika Chandra Reddy, Deputy Mayor D Rajkumar, Congress GHMC floor leader D Rambabu and other leaders were present on the occasion. (INN)
