Lok Pal Bill: LSP Seeks 1M Signatures
The Lok Satta Party launched a signature campaign, seeking the creation of a 3-tier anti-corruption mechanism at the national, state and district levels.
The Lok Satta Party on Wednesday launched a signature campaign in Hyderabad, seeking the creation of a strong 3-tier anti-corruption mechanism at the national, state and district levels.
The party had begun the campaign all over the State on July 25 as part of an Anti-Corruption Week.
Party General Secretary Katari Srinivasa Rao started the campaign under the Yuva Satta's auspices at Prakash Nagar in Begumpet.
The party, Srinivasa Rao said, would like the proposed Lokpal Bill to also provide for the institution of Lokayuktas in states, and of ombudsmen in districts, to combat corruption from the top to the bottom.
He wished to tell skeptics that a similar signature campaign had resulted in the adoption of the Right To Information Act.
Among those who took part in the program were party leaders N Sarojadevi, Gajanani, Vimala, M Satyanarayana, Ranavir and Manoj.
The Lok Satta plans to collect a million signatures on the representation by the month-end, and submit it to the Prime Minister. (INN)
