Government whip Arepally Mohan on Thursday slammed Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for trying to link the Telangana issue with Maoists.
Speaking on the State Reorganisation Bill in the State Legislative Assembly, Arepally said that the naxalism is also a social issue, and the reasons that forced the youth to join the Maoists should be addressed to solve the problem.
He said that unemployment was the major factor that led to the growth of naxalism in Telangana region.
Therefore, he said that instead of linking Telangana formation with naxalism, the government should have focused on addressing the issues that turned the youth into naxalites.
Arepally thanked AICC President Sonia Gandhi for fulfilling the promise of Telangana. He appealed the legislators to participate in the debate with utmost seriousness. (INN)
