Telangana BJP head and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar today demanded the state government hold official Liberation Day celebrations on September 17 in a grand manner.
The leader made this demand in order to prod the government into commemorating the integration of Hyderabad, an erstwhile princely state ruled by the Nizam, into the Indian Union, which had taken place on September 17, 1948.
He made these remarks while addressing party workers at a preparatory meeting at Barkatpura ahead of his upcoming padayatra.
At the meeting, the leader declared that he would take up the issue during his state-wide march.
He then alleged that the TRS government was completely "riddled with corrupt leaders" who only worked to oversee the "construction of irrigation projects to earn commissions".
Talking about the padayatra, Kumar stated that though hundreds of workers were ready to take part in the march, he would be able to allow only 20 workers from each district of the state to participate.
He explained that the main objective of the padayatra was to gain insights into the problems being faced by the people of the state, and to highlight the failures of the TRS government while exposing its "nepotistic rule".
The firebrand MP asserted that the state would witness many political changes very soon.
State BJP in-charge Manohar Reddy was then appointed as the padayatra in-charge.
