A leopard that strayed into Yacharam mandal of Ranga Reddy district is continuing to keep the people in several villages fear-stricken and on tenterhooks.
On Saturday night, the wild animal attacked a bull near Medipally village in the mandal. Forest department officials found pug marks of the elusive cat where the carcass of the bull was recovered. The officials said that the pug marks were of a female leopard.
Forest Range Officer S Narsimha said that attacks by the leopard were being reported for a few months now in Yacharam, which is close to a forest. He said that leopards were on the move in the forest area and frequently come close to villages in search of water and food. In the process, they attacked domestic animals like goats and cattle.
Needless to say, the locals are spending sleepless nights following rumours of the animal being spotted near their villages, and are worried about the safety of their livestock, too.
