Medical Education minister Kondru Murali Mohan on Tuesday said that the exit of senior leaders, including ministers and MLAs, would not harm the Congress party.
Speaking to media persons, Kondru said that the Congress party would not weaken with some senior leaders leaving the party. He said that there were about 300 second-line leaders in each Assembly constituency, who he said would replace the old ones.
Therefore, he said, it is wrong to assume that the exodus would harm the Congress party.
Meanwhile, he dismissed reports of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy floating a new political party. He described the reports as rumours and media speculation. He said that the Chief Minister's family has been loyal to the Congress for many generations now.
Regarding tje Telangana Bill, Kondru said that the Bill should be debated in the state Legislative Assembly. Else, the Centre would consider that all people in Andhra Pradesh are in favour of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, he said. (INN)
