The state police, on Monday, claimed that they have identified 65 accused involved in the 12 June carnage of Dalits in Laxmipet (Vangara mandal) in Srikakulam district.
According to Additional Director General Of Police (Law & Order) and spokesperson S A Huda, "They [the CID] have fairly gathered good information so far, of the actual accused who participated in the carnage, and about those who are behind the scene," he said.
"The CID also is looking into the failure on the part of the police in not preventing this incident and for not taking prompt action after the incident," Huda said. Pending this, the SDPO, inspector and the sub-inspector have been withdrawn, he said.
He also said that a team headed by Additional SP (CID) Ramana Rao is camping in Vangara and Rajam. The case is being supervised by the IGP PCR Cell N Chandra Mouli, while the In-Charge CID Additional DGP S Gopal Reddy had also left for Srikakulam, Huda said. (INN)
