Lagadapati Dashes Into NIMS
Irreverence and the CM – Rosaiah suspends Vijayawada police and says they were asked to not overact, but they ought to have acted.
Hyderabad | 21st December 2009
At a press meet that was held a short while ago, the CM, Rosaiah, didn’t have to explicitly answer reporters who asked him what the state of health of Lagadapati was. He simply quipped that it was the media that’s playing TV footage of Lagadapati’s athletic entry into hospital.
In cinematic hues that are only turning more and more blindingly bizarre by the hour, Lagadapati Rajagopal was spotted literally tearing into NIMS, escaping (?) the media, after which he was immediately seen on a hospital bed, being administered saline. The Congress MP had come there in an auto, reports say.
A visibly miffed Rosaiah has announced the suspension of 14 police officers from Vijayawada, among which are Kamalakar, K Dharmendra, CP Rajendranath Reddy, Bhaskara Rao (SI), Subba Rao. The CM has strongly criticized the police who were around when Lagadapati Rajagopal made his escape from Vijayawada Government General Hospital.
Rosaiah has said that the police force was asked to not overact, but should certainly act when the situation demanded. He said that an enquiry would be initiated, and based on the report and the respective offences committed - whether the officers abetted in Lagadapati’s escape or even merely shirked their duty - fitting action would be taken.
When asked how the government was letting blackmailing politicians go scot-free, Rosaiah assured people that there was no difference between how the government would treat common citizens and politicians, and that it would not tolerate anyone taking the law into their own hands.
Well, that was surely a more soothing statement than what he told reporters who asked him when he would go to Delhi to discuss the political uncertainty with the Centre – he said that the PM has several issues to resolve, that this is not the only problem the Centre is facing, and that the issue is surely getting the importance it is due.
