Caving in to nerves, the Hyderabad police arrested rising Samaikyandhra champion and aspiring-ex-MP Lagadapati Rajagopal for the second time today at about 7:30pm, as he finally started his looming fast-to-death demanding the introduction of the resolution for a separate Telangana in the Assembly. For those confused, Lagadapati's contention is that if the resolution is introduced in the Assembly and voted on through a secret ballot, at least 225 MLAs will vote against it.
Commissioner Prasada Rao said that Lagadapati's arrest was a precautionary measure. He and some other leaders arrested along with him, have been sent to the Bolarum jail. Repercussions have been instant, innovative and eager - in Anantapur, for instance, SKU students demonstrated half-naked in front of their VC protesting Lagadapati's arrest. Anantapur, Chittoor and Tirupati are generally frothing at the mouth, with SKU, SVU and AU students rampaging around, lawyers boycotting courts, and KCR's effigies being burnt.
