BRS working president K T Rama Rao today visited journalists Revathi and Tanvi Yadav at the Chanchalguda central prison, accompanied by party leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, "People had initially believed that the Indiramma Rajyam promised by the Congress referred to a welfare state. Many had expected the Congress government to implement more welfare schemes than those introduced under KCR's leadership. But looking at the Revanth Reddy government's conduct today, Indiramma Rajyam seems reminiscent of the Emergency era. Is this Indiramma Rajyam - arresting young women on fabricated charges? People feel betrayed by the Congress government and are openly expressing their anger. Many say that Congress deceived them with false promises to come to power."
KTR asked whether this was the mohabbat ki dukaan (shop of love) that Rahul Gandhi spoke of. "If people protest, if people question, will you suppress them by targeting the journalists who merely report it? Will you send those journalists to jail? The Revanth Reddy government is cracking down on YouTube journalists simply because they are exposing public dissatisfaction with his government. And he is not just targeting one or two journalists - his government is harassing dozens of them with illegal cases and intimidation," he said.
He also criticised the Chief Minister, saying, "Revanth Reddy, who claimed that democracy was the seventh guarantee of the Congress alongside the six guarantees, cannot tolerate dissent. He is now outraged over his wife and children being verbally attacked, but has he forgotten the abusive language he used against us in the past?"
KTR urged the Chief Minister to come to his senses and feel ashamed of his actions.
