Wooing the people of Seemandhra origin in the Kukatpally Assembly constituency ahead of the Assembly elections, caretaker minister K T Rama Rao today affirmed his commitment to their security and welfare.
Speaking at "Hamara Hyderabad" program at Nizampet attended by a large number of people, KTR said, "I will personally extend all necessary and possible help, and address your problems in a phased manner, if empowered through the elections."
Defending the controversial move to not give any financial assistance for the building of the new capital of residual Andhra Pradesh, KTR revealed that the KCR regime had abstained from offering Rs 100 crores for Amaravathi during its launch as Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself did not offer any financial support to the effort, and offered just soil from the national capital.
KTR also said that he differed with Chandrababu Naidu's suggestion to ally for the elections as the states' interests were different. He also assailed the TDP chief for pumping in fuel and financial assistance for the Congress, who he called a deadly snake, for the upcoming elections.
KTR asseverated that the TRS regime had over the past four years fully allayed the apprehensions of the non-locals, businessmen and traders that there would be a backlash against them once statehood was granted to Telangana. He also said that the TRS government had set up lakhs of CC cameras in the Seemandhra-dominated areas of the city. The Metro had also been extended from Chandanagar to Lakdi-Ka-Pul in the second phase to ease the traffic woes of the area, he said.
KTR promised that if the TRS were to be voted to power in the December elections, all other major problems of the area including poor drainages and water-logging issues among others would be addressed. The lakes in and around the constituency would also be developed and beautified on the lines of Durgam Cheruvu to help the environment given the high amount of construction activity going on in the area, he said.
